The Historic District Family Hike is held every year in early April.
Each scout can walk or run any or all of the 10-mile course to help raise money for scouting.
The Family Hike was formally known as the Hike-A-Thon. While the name and location has changed, it remains
an excellent fundraiser for the scouts and a great chance to start off the Hiking Season.
More than just a fundraiser, this family event is a great way for the scouts,
parents and siblings to get out and enjoy a spring morning in New England after a cold,
snowy winter.

Scouts obtain pledges from friends, neighbors, family etc in advance of the Hike.
Pledges can be per-mile or a flat amount. Parents and siblings are not expected
to obtain pledges in order to participate in the Family Hike.
75 % of all money a scout collects goes directly into their ScoutBucks account to pay for scouting
related activities like Hidden Valley/Camp Bell, equipment(back packs, camping gear etc),
troop events like Ice Climbing, Skiing, White Water Rafting, etc. The other 25% goes
to the Daniel Webster Council for things like improvements to scout camps and other programs.
Scouts will be given a sponsor sheet to request
tax-deductible contributions for the event. To make it easier, it is recommended that scouts
collect pledges ahead of time if possible. Checks should be made out to
"Stratham Boy Scouts Troop 185". Pledge sheet can be otained on line.
Starting in 2008, the Family Hike moved from Raymond down the road to Epping.
The Family Hike starting/ending point is the American Legion parking lot at 232 Calef Highway (Rt 125) in Epping.
