Scoutmaster's Minute
Consider the following:
- In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.
- In 1649, one vote caused Charles I of England to be executed.
- In 1845, one vote brought Texas into the Union.
- In 1868, one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment.
- In 1876, one vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the Presidency of the United States.
- In 1923, one vote gave Adolf Hitler the leadership of the Nazi Party.
- And in 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German.
Each of us in our own way can make a difference.
It doesn’t matter what the color of our skin is, what our religious background is,
what our personal beliefs are, whether we’re male or female, or whether we’re
as physically strong as other people may be. Each of us has unique strengths and weaknesses.
By using the strengths of everybody, we can accomplish more,
and have more fun working together.
